I interned with Concord Theatricals first as the Acquisitions and Artistic Development Intern back in Spring of 2022 remotely from Texas while finishing my undergraduate degree. In that endeavor, I got to read many plays, scout a few shows, and see the inner workings of acquiring new works and championing their writers. I also read submissions for the Samuel French Off Off Broadway Short Play Festival, endearingly known as OOB.
This summer, while interning for Brand Marketing, I was asked to take a week and serve as a Festival Production Coordinator for the 2023 OOB Festival. This felt like a full-circle moment, having seen plays at the submissions level the year before. We worked the week at New York's Vineyard Theatre Off Broadway to rehearse and stage the top 30 short play finalists for audiences. From those, a top 6 was chosen to be published by Concord/Samuel French.
Fun Fact: The Vineyard Theatre is well-known for its role in the process of [title of show] coming to Broadway. This was one of my final shows in college and was a fun coincidence to see "the momentum at the Vineyard Theatre Off-Broadway."
OOB (Ally's Version):
I'd love to continue to uplift these lovely playwrights and artists involved in the 2023 iteration of OOB. See the graphic below for their names & be sure to check out their NPX profiles!
